Meet the Rick Gardner & Associates Wealth Management Team

Rick Gardner, Financial Advisor

Rick has been serving clients as a financial advisor since 1996. His practice serves clients from across the country, but is focused primarily in North Carolina.

In addition to his General Securities License he also is a licensed RIA. He holds licenses in life, disability, health and long term care insurance.

Rick’s formative years were spent in Greensboro, NC. He attended Page High School and it was there that he met his future wife Jen in 9th grade English. He attended Wake Forest on a football scholarship and during his time in Winston-Salem he was a three year starter at defensive end. Rick was a member of the 1992 Independence Bowl Championship Team and was named to the All-ACC Academic Team. He graduated from Wake’s Calloway School of Business with a degree in Business and Finance. He remains active with Wake Forest as a board member of the Deacon Club. He and his wife Jen have three children: Avery 11, Jackson 8 and Wyatt 2 years.

Noel Flanary, Client Care & Practice Manager

Noel grew up in the Shenandoah Valley, which is part of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Parkway. She attended Blue Ridge Community College and majored in Accounting. After starting her career in accounting, Noel moved to North Carolina and has called Raleigh home since 1999.

Noel received her Variable Securities License in 2002 and has had 10 years in the wealth management industry as a customer care and practice manager. Prior to joining Rick Gardner & Associates in 2006, Noel worked in investment services with Fidelity Bank and Merrill Lynch. Noel married her husband, Wesley Flanary, in 2001.

W. Harold Eddins, Jr

Vice President and Portfolio Manager

Capital Investment Counsel

W. Harold (Hal) Eddins is a vice president and portfolio manager at Capital Investment Brokerage, one of the largest independent broker-dealers in the southeastern United States.

Mr. Eddins joined Capital in 1987 and has been part of the growth of a firm that is now comprised of 10 investment, insurance and financial management firms. The firm has close to 200 financial advisors across the United States but is primarily concentrated in the southeastern United States.

Mr. Eddins received his BSBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to his individual portfolio management experience, he also ran Capital’s in house mutual fund from 1997 through 2004. Mr. Eddins has played a key role in growing the company’s portfolio management services and client base over the past 23 years.

Mr. Eddins has been featured in the Wall Street Transcript, the Raleigh News and Observer, and Money Magazine. He has also appeared on CNBC and Fox Business News.

Kurt A. Dressler 

Portfolio Manager

Capital Investment Counsel

Kurt Dressler is a portfolio manager with Capital Investment Counsel and registered representative with Capital Investment Brokerage, one of the largest independent broker-dealers in the southeastern United States.

Mr. Dressler joined Capital in June of 1996 and has been part of the growth of a firm that is now comprised of 10 investment, insurance and financial management firms. The firm has close to 200 financial advisors across the United States but is primarily concentrated in the southeastern United States.

Mr. Dressler earned his B.S. Business Finance with a concentration in economics from Eastern Illinois University in 1991. He worked with another investment advisory firm from 1992-1996, prior to joining Capital and helping refine Counsel’s contrarian risk-averse management philosophy. Mr. Dressler has played a key role in refining and growing the company’s portfolio management services and client base over the past 15 years.

William B. Nicholson, ChFC

Bill NicholsonWilliam B. Nicholson is a chartered financial consultant and has worked in the area of estate planning and life insurance for over 23 years. Bill is the president of Capital Insurance Affiliates, the insurance and annuity arm of Capital Investment Companies. He specializes in advanced estate planning and intergenerational business planning for Capital’s clients.

Bill has worked with clients from Ohio to Florida in estate and philanthropic planning. He has worked on the estate planning teams for the owners of two of the top ten largest private businesses in North Carolina.

Recently, Bill helped form a 501(c)(3) community foundation for clients of Capital Investment Companies. Bill serves as the president of the Capital Foundation, Inc. He has served on the boards of the WakeMed Foundation, Wake County Boys and Girls Clubs and of his church.

He has been recognized in Who’s Who in the World. Numerous times during the year, he speaks at seminars for clients of Capital Investment Companies. Bill is a licensed life insurance instructor registered with the NC Department of Insurance and has conducted continuing education (CE) conferences for the brokers of Capital Investment Companies for 17 years.

Bill graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He is married and has three children. His hobbies are biking, skiing and golf.
